The essence of beauty

Beauty is the aesthetic category that means perfection, harmonic combination of the object's look that causes the aesthetic admiration in others. Beauty is the most important category of culture. In its cultural value the notion of beauty is connected closely with the notion of wonderful having the difference only in the point that wonderful means the highest point of beautiful.

But beauty is often relative. The thing that seems beautiful to one person is not the absolute beauty. For example, the aliens (if they really exist) may have other views on the beauty category considering people to be ugly. And something that may seem ugly and awful for human being can change into the most beautiful thing aliens could see. And of course the attitude to the beauty of the opposite sex is also relative as it is usually controlled by the sexual instinct.

From the times of ancient times the notion of beauty is one of the most important categories of philosophy. Beauty was considered to be the objective and universal category among philosophers of the ancient times. It was considered to be connected with the perfection of the universe, with the space realization and its decoration.

Since the times of Socrates beauty starts to be considered not only in ontological sense but also as the category of intellect and consciousness. And beauty was one of the greatest parts of the world for Socrates.

Aristotle thought that beauty was the incarnation of the god.

Plato said that the human being was in the sphere of beauty and pure thought before his/her birth. The beauty and goodness perception is the main reason for the artistic creativeness of philosophers.
